Virginia Energy and VTCA sponsor the annual Virginia Mineral Mine Safety Awards and Reclamation awards, a very successful program that recognizes companies and mineral miners for outstanding safety achievements and those who have performed exemplary or innovative reclamation of lands previously disturbed for mining in Virginia’s mineral mining industry.

Aggregate Producer Safety Awards

Virginia Energy and VTCA sponsor the annual Virginia Mineral Mine Safety Awards, a very successful program that recognizes companies and mineral miners for outstanding safety achievements in Virginia’s mineral mining industry.

Mine company employees reaching 15-, 20-, 25-, 30-, 35-, 40-, and 45-years without a lost time injury milestones, as well as mine sites in two categories: Quarry and Open Pit with 0 to 25,000 employee hours; 25,000 to 50,000 employee hours; 50,000 to 75,000 employee hours; and, 75,000 and above employee hours, are recognized for their achievement.

For CY2023, eight companies were recognized for working without a lost time injury with the most production hours in a specific category. The eight companies represent a cumulative total of 393,241 production hours worked with no occupational injuries in CY2023.

Aggregate Producer Reclamation Awards

The annual Aggregate Producer Reclamation Award Program is jointly sponsored by Virginia Energy and VTCA and proudly recognizes Aggregate Producers who have performed exemplary or innovative reclamation of lands previously disturbed for mining. These Aggregate Producers are nominated by their respective mine inspectors for awards in quarry and non-quarry categories. Operations that win the overall state award go on to compete with mining operations from other states for national awards.
