Associate Spotlight: P.D. Brooks Traffic Control
P. D. Brooks Traffic Control, a leading full-service traffic control and road safety company servicing Virginia, recently completed a 5,000 square-foot expansion. Built adjacent to the existing 7,600 square-foot headquarters, the new building features a state-of-the-art sign shop with three new digital printers and two mechanic bays. This greatly enhances and expands the sign making and equipment repair services offered.
The company was founded by P. D. Brooks, Sr. in 1962, after a visit to California where he saw blinking lights on Type II barricades safely guiding vehicles through a construction project. He started the rental company upon his return to Virginia, originally constructing barricades in his basement. Not long after, P. D. Brooks, Jr. began working for the company, eventually taking ownership from his father in the 1970’s. Sarah Brooks purchased the company in 1989 and subsequently brought Frank Payne on as a partner in 2007.
Originally a rental shop focused on supporting VDOT contractors, the company has diversified both its services and client base through the years, offering turn-key traffic control services, sign installations, attenuator repair and installation, specification and standards education, project consultation and planning, and traffic plans. P. D. Brooks Traffic Control has also become an expert in managing special event MOT including marathons, parades, and competitive cycling. For example, the company spent two years working with organizers of the 2015 UCI World Cycling Championships developing traffic plans and course management strategies for the two-week multi-course event.
P. D. Brooks Traffic Control is committed to supplying full-service traffic control solutions that can be meet the needs of any project.
