REHABILITATION OF THE I-395 NB BRIDGE OVER THE POTOMAC RIVER DESIGN-BUILD PROJECT - INDUSTRY DAY
October 15, 2024, 1:00-3:00 p.m.
The District Department of Transportation is hosting an industry day and information session on the Rehabilitation of the I-395 NB Bridge over the Potomac River Design-Build Project from 1:00-3:00 p.m. on October 15, 2024. The event will be held at DDOT’s offices at 250 M Street, SE, Washington, DC, in Conference Room #124. Attendees will receive an informational presentation on the project, followed by a question-and-answer session. The presentation will include details about the project background, objectives, innovative methods, the procurement process, schedule, DBE participation, and more.
The project is currently in the preliminary design phase. The RFQ is expected to be advertised before the end of 2024, and the RFP is anticipated to be advertised by mid-2025. Construction is anticipated to start in the Spring/Summer of 2026. The work under this Design-Build project includes the following:
- Replacement of the bascule span superstructure with a fixed span via full bridge closure utilizing
- Accelerated Bridge Construction (ABC) methods.
- Rehabilitation of the bascule span piers.
- Replacement of the bridge fender system.
- Replacement of the bridge barriers.
- Approach spans superstructure and substructure maintenance and rehabilitation repairs.
- In-kind replacement of bridge components removed due to construction. Components include, but are not limited to, existing lighting, bridge drainage, overhead signs, and restoration of the operator house.
