Individual Safety Awards Presented to Martin Marietta’s Midlothian Miners

On August 23, Martin Marietta, VA Energy and VTCA honored four individual miners for achieving safety milestones without lost time accidents. VA Energy was able to join Martin Marietta at the Midlothian location for a celebratory luncheon. Receiving the awards were:

• Calvin Ward - Leadperson - 36 years without a lost time injury
• Jeffrey Allen - Plant Manager - 30 years without a lost time injury
• Kenneth Ward - Equipment Operator - 40 years without a lost time injury
• Marcel Charles - Yard Loader Operator - 20 years without a lost time injury
• Ralph Crawford - Operator/Shovel/Pit - 25 years without a lost time injury

Individual employee safety awards are presented to persons who reach fifteen, twenty, twenty-five, thirty, thirty-five, forty, or forty-five or more consecutive years in the mining industry without a lost time injury during the calendar year. All individual award winners receive a certificate acknowledging their achievement.
